When are LifeDiscovery events? top
All Life Discovery event days take place only on the first Saturday of each month.
How many places are available? top
The minimum number of places you can book is two - you don't have to bring a large group if you don't want to. However, if your booking is for fewer than 15 people, please check with us prior to the required date to ensure that the event you've booked on has enough places filled to be able to go ahead (see minimum guest numbers quoted below).
We have a maximum of 70 places available on each our our 'Multi-Activity' days for Karting, Quadbiking, 4x4 driving & Mudsports. Those making group bookings could potentially nearly double this number by booking out our separate Paintballing and Watersports programmes and asking that these activities be incorporated as part of the Multi-Activity Day. (Note: Watersports runs from April to October only). When booking onto any Multi-Activity Day, check whether Paintballing and Watersports are included or not.
Normally, we run Paintballing for Life as a separate programme that happens on the same First Saturday dates with a minimum booking of 15 places (but no maximum). The same applies to Watersports For Life (between April and October) with a minimum booking of 15 and a maximum of 30 places.
Health, Beauty & Life is again a separate programme that must be booked separately for women only. Again, there's a minimum booking of 15 and a maximum of 30 places. And of course, it takes place on the same first Saturday of each month, enabling partners to attend, do different things during the day and join together in the evening.
Costs top
We ask a suggested donation figure of £30 per head [whether the guest is Christian or not], 50% of which is payable in advance to guarantee the booking (cheques payable to 'Life Discovery'). No booking can be guaranteed without a deposit.
On a Paintballing for Life event, if the guest exceeds the free 200 paintball allocation per half day extra paintballs can be purchased on-site priced at £5 per 100 balls.
Please note: Once a deposit is placed to guarantee a set number of guests, the remaining donation fee is payable for that number, regardless of the number groups actually arrive with on the day. The donation fee covers lunch, dinner and drinks all day, plus guest waterproof kit and instruction and participation on all activities specified as part of the day: this is a fraction of what a secular company would charge. However, we don't wish for cost to be a barrier to people attending, so if the donation figure is a problem, contact us so we can discuss a way of subsidising it. Since the cost doesn't actually cover our costs in organising these events, we do give guests an opportunity at the end of each day to make a further contribution if they want to. We ask all guests who are donating (either directly to us or through hosts) who are tax payers to complete Gift Aid declarations.
Christian & Non-Christian Guests top
Since the whole point of Life Discovery is to allow people who would normally have no contact with Christianity or a church to hear more about it in a relevant, exciting atmosphere, we only accept bookings from Christians who plan, for each Christian guest, to bring at least one guest who wouldn't call themselves a committed Christian. We do not organise events or days just for Christians or exclusively Christian groups. We do however, accept bookings from non_christian individuals or groups by arrangement - provided they appreciate and accept the terms of which the day is being run and wish to participate in the Talks and discussions that are a part of it.
All-Day Attendance top
Since the point of a Life Discovery event is to create a full day where relationships can be built through the activity programmes and the talks, we do insist that guests commit to the whole day, including the Talk section at the end. Hosts booking guests need to ensure that any guests being brought understand this since if any guests unable to commit to attendance of the whole day at morning registration may be turned away.
What Guests Should Bring, Refreshments & Timings top
Guests are provided with waterproof kit, though a change of clothes and a swimming costume is also a good idea for them to bring. Tea, coffee and soft drinks are available throughout the day. Plus we'll serve both lunch and dinner. Timings? Well, you'll be sent a full timetable prior to the day.
